Ingredients

  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 1 handful of mint or celery
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 handful of grapes and 1 apple or other seasonal fruits
  • ½ teaspoon grated ginger

Procedure

Blend green vegetables and ginger with the water until you get a soup-like consistency. Add the banana and other fruits and blend again maybe with some ice cubes. Drink immediately after.

Note: green smoothies are a great way to start the day or have a snack by incorporating the nutritional goodness of green leafy vegetables (in a ratio of 1/3) with the sweetness of the fruit (in a ratio of 2/3). The best thing is to alternate the different green leafy vegetables like celery, spinach, kale, chard, mint, basil (very rich in iron), etc. It’s important to always add some banana among the fruit to cream up the smothie and give the right consistency, in fact you can freeze ripe, peeled bananas, to blend in when needed. You can add a little water to get a better result.
